Book Review: “Twenty Years at Hull House; with autobiographical notes” by Jane Addams

Please note: I first published this book review on the “Goodreads”-website in 2023.

My rating: 4 (of 5) “stars”

The copyright for this book expired a long time ago, you can freely download a version from various sources on the Internet. You can read the book online on the website of the University of Pennsylvania. I printed out the whole text, as I hate reading books on my laptop. I prefer to read actual books, not texts on e-readers or computers. When I print out books to read, I “reuse” paper by using paper with text already printed on one side.

“Jane Addams was a remarkable woman.” — One of the other reviewers on “goodreads.com” wrote this, and there’s really nothing to add.

The book – first published in 1910 – is easy to read (albeit much less enjoyable as an e-book), but some of the chapters are too long – Addams occasionally digresses and writes in too much detail about some topics; overall, though, this is a great book.

Definitely worth reading – but try to purchase a used printed edition.
